Beijing Subway Line Innovates with Automated Steel Cage Processing Equipment to Enhance Construction Efficiency

Recently, two newly purchased automatic steel cage processing equipment - CNC steel cage rolling machines - made their debut at the construction site of Heizhuanghu Station, Section 02 of the East Extension of Beijing Metro Line 8. This marks another innovation in the construction technology of the Rail and Municipal Department, which has attempted to use such advanced CNC equipment for operations for the first time.


2025 is a crucial year for the project department of Section 02 of the East Extension of Metro Line 8. In particular, the demand for steel cages at Heizhuanghu Station and West Exit of Wansheng South Street Station is as high as 1,182, making the supply of steel cages a key factor restricting the progress of the project. To solve this problem, the Rail and Municipal Department, after in-depth research, decided to introduce two LYGH-2200 CNC steel cage rolling machines.

Advantages of steel cage manufacturing
This kind of CNC equipment has completely changed the traditional manual rib winding method. It realizes mechanical automatic operation through preset parameters and can complete the forming in one go, which is not only highly efficient but also has stable and reliable quality. Compared with the traditional manual rib winding, using the steel cage rolling machine only requires one operator to complete the processing and production of a 12-meter steel cage in less than an hour. The efficiency is increased by about 2 times, and the labor cost is saved by 75%.11.jpg


Construction efficiency and effect
After on-site inspection, the processed steel cages have uniform spacing between main reinforcement and stirrups, full and consistent welding points, and neat and uniform diameters, which fully meet the specification requirements and reach the "exemption from inspection" status. The efficient operation of the CNC steel cage rolling machine has provided strong support for the bored pile construction of the project department and helped the project department refresh the construction progress. The project department will continue to improve the operation process and quality acceptance standards, actively verify the applicable scope of the equipment, and collect and compile relevant instruction books and standardization manuals to provide useful references for the selection of similar projects of the group. The introduction and application of new equipment and new technologies have not only improved the construction speed and quality of the project but also contributed to the Rail and Municipal Department's achievement of the group's goal of "Lean Construction Year".
