Field data shows that for the material preparation and roller welding processes, 8 workers per shift work in two shifts (16 workers in total per day), producing 12 finished rebar cages (each 18-20 meters long). In contrast, 16 manual workers can only produce 3 finished rebar cages per day, meaning the machine's efficiency is 4 times that of manual work.
Thanks to mechanized operation, the spacing between main reinforcements and stirrups is uniform, and the diameter of rebar cages is consistent, fully meeting the specification requirements for product quality.
During manual rebar cage production, project supervisors had to inspect the processing site almost every day. With mechanized processing, supervisors can basically implement "exemption from inspection" for machine-processed rebar cages.
02 Core Technology
According to construction requirements, the CNC rebar cage roller welding machine first passes the main reinforcements through the conduits of the corresponding templates in the fixed turntable and inserts them into the corresponding sleeves of the movable turntable for fixation.
The end of the winding reinforcement is first welded to one main reinforcement. Then, the fixed turntable and movable turntable rotate to wind the winding reinforcement around the main reinforcements (the movable turntable rotates while moving forward), with welding performed simultaneously.
The equipment ensures stable and reliable processing quality. Mechanized operation guarantees uniform spacing between main reinforcements and winding reinforcements, consistent diameter of rebar cages, and product quality that fully meets specification requirements.
Since the main reinforcements are evenly distributed on the circumference, the lap joint of multiple rebar cages is convenient, saving hoisting time.
03 Innovative Breakthroughs
With the diversified demands of infrastructure construction, the demand for variable-diameter rebar cages is also on the rise. The variable-diameter device is a core component for processing rebar cages of different sizes and specifications.
Currently, variable-diameter rebar cage roller welding machines mainly adopt three types of variable-diameter devices: chain drive, threaded shaft drive, and faceplate drive. However, all three types have certain shortcomings.
To solve this problem, researchers have developed a roller welding machine control system based on PLC control, wireless LORA (Long Range Radio) technology, and infrared technology. This system enables automatic diameter variation, rotational welding, and tie bar feeding of the roller welding machine.
Through technological innovation, the automation level of roller welding machines has been continuously improved, and the completeness and processing technology of rebar cage production have been continuously optimized, better meeting the basic requirements of modern construction.
04 Application Prospects
CNC rebar cage roller welding machines have been widely used in industrial and civil construction, highway, bridge, tunnel, and mine projects.
Taking the depot project of Section 3 of Fuzhou Metro Line 4 as an example, the project has high requirements for standardization and mechanization, and high quality positioning for bored pile rebar cage processing. The adoption of rebar cage roller welding machines has achieved remarkable results in terms of progress, quality, and economy.
