Fully Automatic Steel Cage Welding Machine (Zhongji Luyuan 2200) Applied in Shandong Expressway Section 10 – Driving Infrastructure Mechanization

Recently, the construction site of Section 10 of Shandong Provincial Expressway has witnessed an upgrade of construction equipment - the project department has officially put into use a new type of fully automatic steel cage welding machine, which has completely replaced the traditional manual welding operation mode. By virtue of mechanized and intelligent technologies, it has solved industry pain points in the steel cage processing link, such as low efficiency, uneven precision and high labor intensity, injecting new impetus into the project's completion with high quality as scheduled.

It is understood that the traditional steel cage processing relies on manual binding and welding, which requires a team of 3-4 people to cooperate. The daily output is only 2-3 sections (each section is 6 meters long) of steel cages. Moreover, affected by the differences in manual operations, the qualification rate of key indicators such as steel bar spacing and welding firmness is only about 95%, and additional manpower is needed for rechecking and correction in the later stage. The Zhongji Luyuan 2200 steel cage welding machine introduced this time adopts a numerical control programming system, which can accurately set parameters such as steel bar spacing and winding density according to the construction drawings. Only 1 operator is required to monitor the operation of the equipment, and the daily processing volume has increased to 8-10 sections, with the processing efficiency improved by more than 3 times compared with the traditional mode.

"The equipment is equipped with an automatic welding robotic arm, which can realize precise spot welding at the steel bar joint. The flatness and firmness of the weld joint all comply with the national infrastructure engineering standards. According to on-site testing, the qualification rate of steel cage processing quality reaches 99.8%, basically achieving 'zero rework'." Engineer Wang, the chief engineer of the project, introduced that the equipment also has the integrated functions of automatic steel bar feeding, cutting and winding, which effectively reduces potential safety hazards in links such as manual handling and cutting, lowers the labor intensity of workers by 60%, and further ensures construction safety.

At present, China's infrastructure industry is accelerating the transformation of "replacing manpower with mechanization and reducing manpower with intelligence". The application of the steel cage welding machine in this expressway project has not only saved about 15 days of construction period for this section, but also provided a replicable mechanized construction plan for similar projects. In the next step, the project department plans to add 2 more equipment of the same type in accordance with the construction progress to further expand the coverage of mechanized operations and help the project build a "high-quality, efficient and safe" infrastructure benchmark project.
